G Land

This project is a renovation of an existing residence in Oakland for the family of 5. The upstairs was reconfigured into an open floor plan for the dining room, kitchen and family room. Used as a storage 1000 square feet room downstairs was transformed into an additional entertainment room with a full-size bar serving inside and outside. The internal stair was added to connect two stories.

As a very hospitable family, they needed additional space outside to spend time with friends and family. The landscape was improved by adding one deck next to the pool on the upper level and another deck with a fire pit on the lower level, adjacent to the new entertainment room. Concrete exterior stair following existing grade blends into the landscape, creating a smooth and integrated transition between levels. Cut off in the existing grade allowed to visually hide an outside portion of the bar with built-in furniture but yet to be part of the lower level.
